ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

DUE TO THE FOCUS ON RECOVERY FROM HURRICANES HARVEY AND IRMA, KANZI FEST WILL BE RESCHEDULED TO THE SPRING.

KANZI means “treasure” in Swahili, which is the most commonly spoken language amongst Black people in the world. KANZI Fest is an initiative of Kemetyu Global Economic Development Corporation (KGEDC), a 501c(3) organization dedicated to uplifting African descendant people and the introduction of the very diverse culture to all people worldwide.

Held at Southdown Park and other venues in Pearland, TX,, KANZI Fest expects 2,500+ attendees. Live music from Africa and the Diaspora will be featured. The Diaspora includes but is not limited to the Caribbean, Latin America, and the United States.

The performances will take the festival goer through a historical trek of African music from the continent throughout the Diaspora. Also featured will be entrepreneurs from Africa and the Diaspora vending merchandise that is made, designed, and/or developed by people of African descent.

Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy watching the concert live from the VIP Tent, mingle at the HBCU Alt-Homecoming Tent, or watch their children enjoy the many activities of the Children’s Village. If they want a little bit more activity, there will be Trap Yoga and Black Girl Magic Exercise. And, we must not forget the Quiet Parties featuring DJ’s from Africa and the Diaspora!

The weekend will start off with a networking mixer and movie under the stars on Friday and the International Affairs Council Summit will close it out on Sunday!
